Your future starts here! This short 3-month course will provide you with the bookkeeping skills needed to start building the career you want. This course is an ideal starting point to enable you to gain basic bookkeeping skills and knowledge. 


The AAT Accounting Qualifications provide practical, internationally recognised finance and accountancy skills that can open doors for you in any industry across the world. AAT’s short qualifications provide a solid foundation in bookkeeping and accounting software, acting as a good starting point if you’re new to these subjects.

  • What this course includes

    The course will teach the basic skills and knowledge required for bookkeeping. Including learning about Bookkeeping Transactions and Bookkeeping Controls. The following content in particular is covered: 

    • Understand financial transactions within a bookkeeping system 
    • Process customer transactions 
    • Process supplier transactions 
    • Process receipts and payments 
    • Process transactions through the ledgers to the trial balance 
    • Understand controls in a bookkeeping system 
    • Use control accounts 
    • Use the journal 
    • Reconcile a bank statement with the cash book 

    You will be assessed via two computer based assessments, one at the end of each unit.

Entry requirements

This qualification does not require any qualifications for entry to the course. However, for the best chance of success it is recommended that students begin their studies with a good standard of English and Maths. 

If English is not your first language, ESOL Level 5 is an entry requirement for this course.

Course Fees £550

Students will pay for Learner registration/membership £65 to AAT.  This is a one off payment.

Assessment fee will be met by the learning provider (up to maximum of two sittings per module)
