Health & Social Care
The health & social care industry is continuing to grow in response to increasing crossover between social care and healthcare roles.
As a college, we offer a range of health & social care courses at a variety of different levels, from SCQF Level 4 up to SCQF Level 7 to prepare you for employment within this industry or progression to further study.
We have excellent links with local employers and related organisations, and we use these relationships to benefit our students by bringing in knowledgeable speakers from the industry. Our previous Health and Social Care students have received sessions from the Royal College of Nursing Workshops and Tommy Whitelaw Dementia Awareness.
As a college, we know that not all learning takes place within a classroom or college setting. We take our students out to various different organisations and settings, with previous students visiting the Surgeons Hall as well as several Higher Education Fairs.
Many of our health & social care students also complete a substantial Industry relevant placement to support skills development and gain experience needed to succeed in their future career. Previous students have had the opportunity for work placements within St John’s Hospital, Care Homes and Day Centres throughout West Lothian, many of who are now in permanent employment following their course.
Our lecturers are previously registered staff nurses and have experience, knowledge and networks from working with the NHS and private health and social care companies, which are used to help you succeed in your chosen course.
