Events

The events industry is continuing to grow, with over 90 million people attending an event within the UK in the last year alone. There are currently over 25,000 businesses within the events sector, meaning ample employment opportunities for ambitious and skilled individuals.

As a college, we offer a Level 7 (HNC) course in events to prepare you for employment within this industry.

We have excellent links with local employers and related organisations, and we use these relationships to benefit our students by bringing in knowledgeable speakers from the industry.  Our previous events students have received sessions from the SCVO, Party in the Palace organisers, Neil’s Hugs, Livingston Football Club, Bridge2Business, Queen Margaret University and Quality Scotland – all of whom organise events themselves, or require support from event planners on a regular basis.

As a college, we know that not all learning takes place within a classroom or college setting. We take our students out to various different organisations and settings, with previous students visiting Norton House, The Sheraton Edinburgh, Strathclyde Business Show, Event-it, Pax in the City, Event it Expo and The Gathering.

Many of our events students also complete a placement to allow them to build the skills and experience needed to excel in their future career. Previous students have had the opportunity for work placements within Jaks Den, Quality Scotland, Neil’s Hugs, Food Creations, Party at the Palace, SCVO , Cyrenians and The Sheraton, some of who are now in permanent employment with their placement employer following their course. Our events students also create, plan, promote and manage their own events – previous events have included a Christmas fayre, dog show, launch parties and staff Christmas parties.
