Jennifer Whyte NC Hairdressing Level 6
Jennifer Whyte chose to study hairdressing at West Lothian College because she wanted a career in which she could work flexible hours to combine studying with being a mum.
32 year old Jennifer was determined to find a successful career she could balance with being a parent. She found that hairdressing was the ideal path for her.
“I wanted to better myself. I have had jobs but I wanted a career and hairdressing allows me to work around the kids.”
Jennifer who lives in Stoneyburn decided to apply for NC Hairdressing Level 5 last year.
“The college is nearby which is very handy for me so I applied for the course, I loved it and have since progressed onto NC Hairdressing Level 6.”
West Lothian College prides itself on giving students a real hands-on learning experience and this method is certainly one Jennifer enjoys.
“I know most people say that their favourite part of the course is the practical stuff but it is so hands-on here you really get caught up in the work. I really enjoy it and the class all get along really well so there is a great atmosphere in the salon. To anyone thinking about taking a hairdressing course here, they should go for it because they definitely won’t regret it.”
Jennifer plans to progress onto the SVQ Level 3 Hairdressing course next year before deciding whether to look for employment or continue in education.
