Graeme Bryce shares his West Lothian College experience
Mechanical engineering students enjoy particularly good graduate prospects with the vast majority of mechanical engineers end up in professional-level employment or postgraduate study within six months of graduating.
Mechanical engineers have a working knowledge of computer applications, electricity, structures, mathematics, and physics, plus they’re required to have some understanding of social, environmental, and economic factors.
Graeme Bryce is a mechanical engineering student at West Lothian College and has found the whole learning experience to be extremely beneficial.
“The course has definitely given me a new perspective on life as a student. I’ve learned to stay calm and take my time at tasks. I just need to make sure I have read questions thoroughly so it’s better not to panic and go at your own pace. I really enjoy the fact that every lecture is helping to broaden my knowledge of the subject”.

When asked what advice he had for any budding mechanical engineering students Graeme commented:
“If you are keen to learn you will do just fine. It can be a lot to take in sometimes but if you put the work in you will get there in the end.”
