Aiden Black SECTT Pre-Electrician Apprenticeship

Aiden Black studies the SECTT pre-electrician apprenticeship at West Lothian College.

With a huge demand for fully trained electricians the course is aimed at those who want to become fully-qualified electricians and to go on to apply for an electrician apprenticeship, or similar. The course is backed by the Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust (SECTT), which manages the electrical apprenticeship programme in Scotland with the electrical industry and selected colleges.

Aiden has enjoyed taking the first steps on the path to a trade at West Lothian College.

“The course in a nutshell has taught me the ins and outs of the work an electrician does and how to carry this out in a safe manner.”

SECTT arranges placements with local electrical installation companies and also works with employers to secure full apprenticeships for students who successfully complete this 17-week course.

Aiden has successfully secured an apprenticeship as a result of studying at the college.

“I am currently an apprentice electrician with West Lothian Council and I have to say I love it! I feel that studying at college definitely prepared me for working and that is something I am really grateful for.”
