What is the Flexible Workforce Development Fund (FWDF)?

The Flexible Workforce Development Fund (FWDF) is a fund that provides employers with development and training opportunities to up skill and re skill their existing workforce.

The Scottish Government have allocated further funding in 2018-19 to provide £10 million of training to employers in Scotland who are subject to the apprenticeship levy which will be distributed amongst regional colleges across Scotland by the Scottish Funding Council (SFC).

The fund aims to encourage innovation in the economy, drive inclusive and sustainable growth, and ensure a productive and engaged workforce capable of meeting the needs of employers and increase productivity in the work place.

Levy-paying employers will also now have the ability to bring benefit to their supply chain by including supply chain company staff in training they have identified as a collective priority or relinquishing their access to the FWDF and nominating up to two of their supply chain companies to receive all or part of their allocation.
