How to set up and use your student outlook@ live service
West Lothian College provides email accounts for all students. The format of your email address is @student.west-lothian.ac.uk. This email address is also known as your Windows Live ID or Outlook@Live account. You can access this account from inside the college and from anywhere on the internet (www.live.com from outside College).
It is important that you open your email account from within the college the first time you access it. Until you logon for the first time within the college you will not be able to access your email account from the internet.
Logon to email for the first time.
Logon to a PC inside the college using your matriculation number and whatever password you have chosen.
Open a web browser and ensure you can get to the internet. You may be presented with a logon screen to iPrism. If so please logon as yourself using your Windows login and password so that you have access to the internet.
Once you have access to the internet look for an icon entitled Outlook@Live on the desktop. The icon will look similar to this:

Double click on the icon and a new web browser will open and take you to your email; if a page with an error appears press RETURN to try again, there is a timeout issue at certain busy times. The window will look like this:
The two areas blacked out in this example are where your matriculation number appears.
To forward your student email to an existing personal email account such as Hotmail, talktalk or yahoo, click Options>See all options>Forward your email. You will then be able to type in your personal email address and Save it.
Click on the ? to the right of the Options selection list to open the help screens.
When you have finished click on Sign Out in the top right hand corner.
To access your email account from the internet, go to www.live.com . Enter your Windows Live ID, @student.west-lothian.ac.uk,and password. This will log you onto your Outlook@Live.
