Student Guidelines
As a student of West Lothian College you are agreeing to honour your student commitment by signing the induction checklist.
Disciplinary Procedure
Disciplinary action is always a last resort and there are normally several stages in the process which should give you the opportunity to improve. Students are entitled to bring another student, family member, guardian or friend to disciplinary hearings and to appeal against any decision taken.
Copies of the Student Disciplinary Procedures are available from the Student Development Centre or a member of staff in the 'Hub'.
Complaints and Suggestions Procedure
If you are not completely satisfied with the service you receive at West Lothian College please tell us. You can report any problem to your subject lecturer, or you can put your complaint in writing. Your comment, which will be treated in confidence, will be acknowledged within 3 working days and where appropriate, be answered by a member of the Executive Management Team within 10 working days.

We are very keen to improve the service we offer and would welcome any suggestions on how we might do this. We would also like to hear from you if you have had a positive experience or feel a member of staff has been particularly helpful.
Further details and copies of the Guide for Making a Complaint and Suggestion and Compliments Form are available at Reception.
Assessment Appeals
The College has an Assessment and Appeals Policy and Procedure, which allows all learners the right of appeal against decisions relating to the College Internal Assessment Policy and Procedure.
If you are unhappy with an assessment decision, you should follow the procedure detailed in the document below.

Disclosure
For some students, their programme may involve contact with vulnerable adults or children and are therefore required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check. Further information will be issued by programme Tutors.
Student On Course Evaluation
SOCE is one of several methods the College uses to evaluate students' experience at the College, with particular emphasis given to learning and teaching.
The evaluation has been developed online and is made available for students to complete twice each academic year, in November and April.
This is an important opportunity for you to raise any concerns and highlight positive aspects of your programme, so we would encourage you to complete it. Evaluations are completed anonymously, we simply request details of your programme of study to allow us to deal with any issues raised.
Further details about SOCE will be given to you early November by your lecturer.
