NQ Digital Media Computing
SCQF Level: 5/6
This is a practical, hands-on course, suitable for school leavers or mature students who want to develop the key information technology and computing skills required to move onto a higher level computing or media course.
Duration
One academic year. You will need to attend College for 18 hours of variable, timetabled study per week, plus commit to undertake further self study of at least 6 hours per week.
Aim
You will gain knowledge and expertise in subjects such as animation fundamentals, software development, interactive multimedia for website development, computing games design, troubleshooting and securing IT systems.
Opportunities
You will have the opportunity to complete the NPA in Computer Games Development.
You will have the chance to meet a variety of employers and learn more about potential job opportunities.
Entry
- Standard Grade passes in English, Mathematics and a Science subject at General level, or equivalent qualification.
- Mature candidates with relevant experience will be considered.
For those about to leave school you will not currently be able to apply online and you should ask your guidance teacher for an appliction form.
Prospects
Education: Possible progression to HNC Interactive Media, HNC Computing or HNC Information Technology.
Employment: This course prepares you for work in an office environment as a data entry operative, clerical or secretarial support staff worker, trainee computer technician, junior programmer or trainee Multi-Media Developer.
