NC Make Up Artistry
SCQF Level: 6
This course is an ideal introduction to a career in the Make-up industry.
One academic year. Approximately 3 days a week one of which is a twilight class included within the course which you must attend.
You will gain essential knowledge and expertise in a wide variety of make-up and hairdressing skills used in the industry.
Practical study - you will gain skills which will enable you to produce a total look image, this will include body painting, fantasy make-up and special effects make-up, character makeup for TV and theatre and also digital imaging.
To enhance this qualification there will be opportunities to incorporate scalp, neck and shoulder massage treatments, wigs for media, a variety of make-applications plus hair styling.
The College has a state-of-the-art busy and realistic work environment and there are great opportunities to complete a work placement experience.
There may be an opportunity to carry out additional specialist training and educational trips .
There will be on-going assessments which will include practical tasks, written assessments and portfolio development .
A make-up kit, appropriate protective clothing and textbooks are supplied.
Communication level 5.
All applicants will be considered. Where possible, bring a portfolio to showcase your work.
Applicants will be interviewed and asked to complete a written task. Candidates should be able to demonstrate basic numeracy and communication skills and show a keen interest within the make- up industry.
Education: Possible progression to HNC Fashion Make Up
Employment: Various opportunities including working in a salon or freelance or working in retail sales.
