This course is designed for students wanting to expand their knowledge and skills developed on the HNC Fitness, Health and Exercise course. This course can lead to a range of degree level courses or employment in industry. 


One academic year (Times and days vary).


The course will allow you to develop the skills that are required to work within the health and fitness industry. You will develop an in-depth understanding of a range of topics for example, Applied Exercise Prescription, Applied Fitness Assessment, Applied Nutrition and Preparing to Start a Business. You will enhance your skills in exercise application and leadership and enhance your understanding of the role and impact of diet, fitness and exercise on the community.


You will have the opportunity to work with a range of clients including older people, children, athletes and individuals who have specific health needs.



You should have completed the HNC Fitness, Health and Exercise with 15 credits at SCQF level 7.

Education: Possible progression to Year 2 or 3 of degree level courses in a range of subjects relating to Fitness, Health and Exercise.

Employment: Various roles in a Health and Fitness Suite, Sports Centre or Health Spa as a Personal Trainer or Exercise Leader.

Interview arrangements

If you are invited for an interview for this course, the instructions are below:

Please expect to be in college for around two hours.

Applicants should bring along their kit and be prepared to take part in fitness testing and team games. A short written piece will also be completed.
