Students create charity video
HNC Interactive Media students at West Lothian College were recently given the chance to apply the skills they have learned in their course by producing a promotional video for a local charity.
The students were thrilled at the prospect of creating a promotional video for HcL, a local charity which operates door-to-door transport services for people with limited mobility around the Midlothian and West Lothian areas.
A filming day was arranged which allowed the students to visit the various HcL pick-up and drop-off locations and meet some of the clients who are benefiting from the service.
West Lothian College’s Centre Manager of Computing and Engineering, Gordon Weir said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our HNC Interactive Media Students.
“Filming included clients being collected from their homes, a stop at Morrisons at South Gyle, and a journey with a dial-a-bus service to return the clients to their homes, with the Dial-a-Bus driver helping the clients into their homes with their shopping bags.”
Lecturer Scott Fleming added: “Our students were able to capture on film the various services offered by the charity and highlighted the importance of the service to its users and the local community. Students used their skills and did an excellent job of filming at each location, taking a professional approach to their work experience”.
“On behalf of the students and West Lothian College I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard on this project. Special thanks to the team at HcL, all the drivers, and the passengers who were there on filming day. The footage will now be edited to form the finished video, which will appear on the HcL website in the near future.”
