If you require more space when completing the form, please attach a separate sheet. This should indicate the title of the post and your first initial and surname. Acknowledgement
We will only acknowledge receipt of your application if you have indicated this on your form.
Shortlisting and Interviews
After the closing date your application form will be carefully assessed to determine how well your experience, skills and qualifications match the job specification. To ensure equality of opportunity, your equal opportunities and criminal convictions form will be removed from your application prior to the short-listing process. If you are not short-listed for interview you will be informed in writing at this stage.
References
References are normally taken up at the time a selection decision has been reached following interview. A provisional offer of appointment will be made subject to satisfactory references. Satisfactory references must be obtained prior to the candidate taking up post. It is normal practice to obtain two such references, in writing, and employers or other relevant sources should provide these. One of the references is normally from a current employer if in employment, or a recent employer if previously employed. Please tick the box on the application form if you do not wish your referee to be contacted without your consent.
Disclosure Scotland
Please note that all staff are subject to a Disclosure Scotland check.
Interviews
The interview panel will normally comprise three to four members including the line manager for the post, an Assistant Principal and a representative from Human Resource Management. For management posts the Principal will chair the panel. The interview is designed to allow you to expand on your application and demonstrate the extent to which you meet the requirements of the post. After the interview the panel will decide on the successful candidate who will be informed of the outcome as soon as possible. If you are unsuccessful you will receive written notification.
Evaluation of Recruitment and Selection Process
Following your interview we will send you an Evaluation Form about the Recruitment and Selection Process as West Lothian College is committed to continuous quality improvement. We would therefore appreciate your views on all stages of the recruitment and selection process. Your views on the process will help us to plan and improve future recruitment and selection procedures.
